Is this for real? Mike K's son is really coming to the Tigers? Woo hoo!
BTW, if you don't remember Mike K from all the years he played in the NHL, it's "KROO-shell-NISS-key." Let's just hope there aren't any Leschyshyns on the same team (gotta take it easy on the broadcasters, you know).

Krushelnyski Commits To Colorado College Bensenville, IL (November 5th, 2009) - The Chicago Steel are proud to announce that Forward Alex Krushelnyski has committed to Colorado College (WCHA) for the 2010-2011 season. Colorado College is currently ranked 12th (uscho.com) with a record of 4-1-1. Alex's dedication over the past years has paid off for him, and we couldn't be happier for him. He is a very good player, and he will succeed at Colorado College. Said Assistant Coach Jon Waibel. Colorado College is getting a skilled player who is very dedicated on and off of the ice. Last season for the Steel Alex played in 38 games and had 7 goals and 11 assists with 24 penalty minutes. In his second season with the Steel, Krushelnyski has played in 10 games and already has 4 goals, and 7 assists with 6 penalty minutes.

Thanks, great news. CC has a lot of forwards graduating next year, and if they can continue to pick up point-per-game USHL guys then next year won't be
another rebuilding year but could be a year of high expectations.
If my count is correct, they will lose 7 forwards (Sweatt, Overman, McMillin, DeBoer, Testwuide, Quilico and Vlassopolous) and 2 defensemen (Prosser and Fredheim). They have 3 forward recruits (Schwartz, Eveland, Krushelnyski) and 1 defenseman (McDermott) committed for next year. The quantity isn't there yet, but the quality clearly is. Schwartz has been referred to as the best recruit in CC history, but even if he doesn't live up to that level of hype he clearly will be a very good player. Eveland and Krushelnyski both look like high skill, top 2 line guys as well. Bringing in 3 forwards who could all step in an play at a second line level immediately is outstanding. McDermott looks like he could be an outstanding player as well. The amount of ice time he got as a 16/17 year old player last year was incredible. I don't see a mid-level player in the group for next year yet. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about some big kids filling out the class who may not have quite the skill of these three, but I'd rather see the top-end players sign first anyway.

Love the name. But, does this mean we have to cool some of the cracks about the Wings?

Rich wrote: All right, Rich! Gotta like another merry punster. I'm no Wings fan either, but I've always respected Steve Yzerman. Mike K played a lot more years with Edmonton, LA, and the Leafs than he did with the Wings, though he did earn his 4th Stanley Cup ring as a Wings coach. So with Alex K we get not only a skill player with legitimate NHL genes, but also a coach's kid. I call that a twofer of the best kind. |

Rich gives me goose bumbs when he speaks well of the Tigers future! I like that!
Denver University is so loaded for the 09/10 season that if they do not win the National Championship it will be a major embarrassment to their team and their
fans!! I hope DU and their fans (all four of them) feel the pressure!!
CC NORTH (aka Magness Arena on the campus of Denver University) where the Colorado College Tigers are 13-6-2 all time against the Denver Pioneers. Thank you DU for building a second home for CC!! Announcer says: "Visiting team, full strength". CC fans reply: "And you still suck". "THE CC FAN" yells out: "And so does DU". Section 218 bursts out in laughter and agreement. Why? Because DU was not even in the building and they still sucked!! |
